Last night gazing out across the island, as the sun melted behind the forest, I noticed a herd of cattle far in the distance. I grabbed the binoculars to zoom in, as I had never seen livestock on the island before. These were not cows but the biggest group of elk I have yet seen, seems like now the hunting season and the winter are behind us, the elk are settling in for the summer.
Let us hope that the omen on many elk brings us all an abundant time. Creiddylad has cast her golden warming touch upon the ground and brought the sleeping meadows back to life. Just as Freyr and Freyja are brother and sister, lovers and joint fertility deities, as it is with Gwynn ap Nudd and Creiddylad, the Winter king and the Summer queen. As Beltane approaches we honor the masculine and feminine in equal parts, for life to spring forth all must be in balance.
May the blood moon on the 4th bring harmony and order to the chaos that has engulfed us all since Samhain.
